The Master's in Education (M.Ed, MAEd, MSEd, EDM) is an advanced 1 - 2 year degree for educators advancing in the field of education. Most US states and Canadian provinces require a Master's-level degree and the certificate that goes with that work to be hired for educational administration or for employment as a professional counsellor. Admission into a Master's-level program typically requires a Bachelor's degree in Education (BS, BA, or BEd) or in the specific field in which the teacher would be teaching, and several years' experience in an educational or a mental health setting.
